Edward "Edd"'s Story

Life Loved singing those early Beatles songs with the "Boys-Freatles" group in Thailand 62-64 and later in Midwest City with the "5th Dimension" 64-66. Graduated from U of Houston /Clear Lake: BS in Hospital Admin. 1977. Enjoyed working in Healthcare for many years. Recently worked in Iraq for US Army from late 2004 to 2008 returning home April 08 to Ft. Worth, Texas to take a few months off and recharge my batteries. 40 months in a war zone working 7 days a week/12-14 hrs a day tends to tire me out. Spent another year in Abu Dhabi and returned home in May 2009. Returned to middle east - Kandahar in November 2009 to help the troops. Sure enjoying being home with my family, drove my new rag top Chili Pepper Red SKY, and got the boat wet a few times! Happily married to Jan we love and share 9 loving children and love our beautiful 20 (YES TWENTY!) grandchildren. The "past" picture is Diana Powell and I doing the "cha cha" at a dance in Bangkok, Thailand 1963. The "present" one is Jan and I in Hawaii (just below Diamond Head) at our wedding in July of 1999. School Attended elemetary and secondary schools in Texas, Frankfurt & Bonn Germany, Paris France, Boston, Kansas City. Attended International School in Bangkok, Thailand (Freshman-Sophomore yrs) 62-64. Then my Jr-Sr years at Midwest City High, Oklahoma. Loved drivi...Expand for more
ng my 64 1/2 Mustang in HS. I loved both places, all the friends from HS days, and truly enjoy the class reunions. College After Vietnam, attended Tarrant County College in Fort Worth 72-74. BS degree in Hospital Administration from University of Houston/Clear Lake, Texas - graduated 1977. Workplace Since college, have worked mostly in healthcare. Working in Iraq for 40 months and Kuwait a few months helping our troops. Love the work - love the time off it pays for... Worked in Abu Dhabi in 2008-09 - Now back in Kandahar AFG in late 2009. Military Basic Training July 70/ Fort Lenardwood, Missouri. AIT and NCO school at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Vietnam 71-72 - Danang. Recon Sgt for 2/2nd Infantry, C Company and earlier Chief of Section for 3/82nd Artillery. Got out early - lost hearing in my left ear. Spent time in Active Reserves in Military Police, 305th in Fort Worth, Texas. I always wanted to be a pilot like my Dad (he was a fighter pilot in the south Pacific during WWII) when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were wrong - my eyes were not good enough.. My parents were my heros - that was enough. I admire those POW's who withstood so much for so long! Like every Vietnam Vet - I HATE Jane Fonda! We are so very blessed with wonderful loving children and grandchildren!
